Title
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, AMENDING APPENDIX A - ZONING, ARTICLE XVI - MULTIPLE DWELLING R-3 DISTRICT; PROVIDING FOR VEHICLE STORAGE AREAS WITHIN MULTIFAMILY DEVELOPMENT; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BACKGROUND: This ordinance, if approved, would permit multifamily developments with common area under unified control to build and use auto storage areas for commercial vehicles and recreational vehicles for residents of the development. The City Commission tabled this item at the April 19, 2023 meeting.
RECOMMENDATION: At the April 4, 2023 meeting, the Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval of the ordinance with the following changes:
1) Do not require a paved surface to park these commercial vehicles and recreational vehicles; and
2) Do not require a vinyl coating on chain link fences used to screen the parking area; and
3) Require that the mesh screen attached to the chain link fence be maintained in a neat, damage free appearance.
