BACKGROUND:                     This agenda item is for the settlement of $200,000, for two separate worker’s compensation claims for Firefighter Paramedic Dennis Horrigan. Dennis Horrigan became a City of Margate fire department employee on April 17, 1995. The claims are from accidents that occurred on May 13, 2021, and October 29, 2021.

This settlement was negotiated with the employee, Risk Manager and Third-Party Administrator, and it is found to be in the best interest of the City.  Confidential medical information is contained in relevant documentation. For this reason, there are no attachments other than the Resolution. The settlement is proposed in order to satisfy the known liability and reduce the potential for future liabilities.
