BACKGROUND:

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is planning improvement work at the intersection of Royal Palm Blvd/Copans Road and State Rd 7/US 441 and city owned utility infrastructure that is within the project limits, will be impacted (see project drawings submitted in background information). FDOT has agreed to handle the impacted infrastructure through their contractor and have submitted a Utility Work by Highway Contractor Agreement (UWHCA) for execution by the city. They have estimated the city’s cost to be $16,128.00 and the details of the work associated with this cost are presented in Exhibit A of the UWHCA. The UWHCA is attached in the background information.

The deadline for executing the UHWCA was December 20th 2023 and the city is in compliance with this deadline. However, based on the overall obligations and responsibilities bestowed upon the city by the UWHCA, it is presented for ratification by Commission.

Work at this intersection is expected to start in December 2024.
