BACKGROUND:

The City currently contracts with Change Healthcare Technology Enabled Services, LLC (formerly PST Services, Inc.) for Emergency medical transport billing and collection services.  Change Healthcare notified the City via letter dated February 6, 2024, regarding intent not to renew the Agreement after the current term end date of June 30, 2024.  The letter also invited the City to discuss an earlier transition.  Staff has concluded that it is best to terminate the agreement and transition services to a different provider as soon as possible due to ongoing issues related to the provider’s recent inability to process billing.

Staff has initiated talks with a new emergency medical transport billing provider and expects to have a new agreement with that provider prior to expiration of the 30 days written notice period required for the termination of the agreement with the current provider.

RECOMMENDATION:  Approve agreement termination

FISCAL IMPACT:  No fiscal impact to terminate the agreement with the current provider is anticipated.
