Title

AN ORDINANCE TO INCREASE RESIDENTIAL PARKING REQUIREMENTS.

Body

BACKGROUND:                                          At the March 7, 2018 Regular City Commission meeting, the City Commission directed staff to prepare and bring forth revisions to the residential parking requirements.    Resolution 18-038 was approved at the April 4, 2018 Regular City Commission meeting to declare a Zoning in Progress for a new parking requirement that the City Commission agreed upon.  Staff has prepared the attached ordinance in response to the Zoning in Progress and directive from the City Commission.  In addition to the new minimum parking requirement for residential development, staff has included language and diagrams to clarify the amount of parking provided based on driveway and other parking facilities provided at individual home sites, and a definition of “bedroom.”

RECOMMENDATION:                     On July 5, 2018 the Planning and Zoning Board voted 3-1 to approve the ordinance with amendments.  See attached memo for details.
