Title
REINSTATING THE MCRA’S NEW BUSINESS INCENTIVE GRANT PROGRAM
BACKGROUND: The New Business Incentive Grant program was first approved by the Board May 16, 2019 via resolution 600. The program’s guidelines were subsequently amended and approved by the Board via resolution 605 on July 29, 2019. Copies of both approvals are attached.
The Board approved a moratorium on the acceptance of new application to all grant programs under Discussion and Possible Action at the MCRA meeting on August 20, 2019. Executive Director Jeff Oris recommended an evaluation of the grant programs in place at that time and the incorporation of design guidelines.
At the MCRA meeting on January 15, 2020, the Board formalized the August moratorium via resolution 627 which directed staff to discontinue acceptance of new applications for all grant programs approved prior to December 1, 2019.
At the April 14, 2021 MCRA meeting, various grant programs were discussed and the Board recommended having a grant program to attract new business and directed Executive Director Cale Curtis to revisit the new business grant previously offered by the MCRA.
Attached for Board review and reinstatement is the previously approved New Business Incentive grant program’s guidelines and application.
